My name is Andree Bemet. I hold a Masters degree in Fine Art from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT)and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the Australian Catholic University. I have been an art educator and practicing artist for most of my working career. My teaching career began on the Gold Coast in the secondary sector and then took me to Hong Kong where I resided for 15 years. Whilst in HK, I was the Head of Visual Art for two large international secondary schools- South Island School and West Island School. In that time I taught the British GCSE curriculum and the Middle Years and Diploma years programs for the International Bacclaureate. I currently work as a tutor at Hillcrest College teaching their Art Excellence program two afternoons per week. In July this year, I have opened up the Burleigh Art Hub in the Burleigh Industrial Estate and am offering student classes for young people between the ages of 10-17 yrs. The classes are on a Wednesday during term time from 4-5.30pm. As the class size is only small, each student will be provided with personalised art projects and have ample personal instruction. A discussion will take place prior to beginning so that the interests of the individual student can be met. The classes can be attended on a casual basis for $30 per session or for the whole 9 sessions each Wednesday for $250. All materials are provided. A range of art disciplines will offered across drawing, painting, printmaking(lino, intaglio, monotypes) and mixed media.
